Westerbork was a transit camp in northeastern Netherlands, from which nearly 100,000 Jews were deported to Nazi concentration camps.

Not all in the camp were scheduled for deportation. There was a population of permanent residents, amongst whom were a group of youth leaders who held activities, such as this candle lighting during Hanukkah, which took place in December of 1943.
